About

You're wondering about the Snaildata thing. That's understandable.

To introduce myself, my name is Darragh, and I am a 23 year old law student from Dublin, Ireland. I did my undergraduate degree in law, and I am now pursuing an LLM (masters degree) in Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law. I am also in the process of qualifying as a New York attorney. Large brain.

I've always been interested in technology. And I've always been interested in law (I know, lame). This blog is a product of that. I intend to use this space as my open thinking ground. I'd like you to join me in this endeavour. Much of the law is inaccessible -  or at least difficult to understand - to the normal individual. I'd like to help remedy that. Also, I say "normal" because it takes a special kind of psycho/sociopath to have an ingrained desire to be a lawyer since you were 11.

I will tease out intricate issues at the intersection of law and technology. Let me give you an example! You've heard about all this blockchain stuff and fancy technology. You don't quite understand it but you find it interesting. You've also heard a lot about the GDPR. You don't quite understand it and you don't find it interesting. It sounds to me like you might be interested in hearing me ramble about how blockchain will/should be regulated in Europe under the EU's data protection regime, the GDPR.

No? Alright. If that doesn't interest you, just subscribe to the newsletter anyways and I promise that at least every third article will make a joke about Mark Zuckerberg's inability to feel any form of emotion. I'll send you memes too. Techlaw memes. But memes nonetheless.
